Troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol were on the scene of a fatal accident that involved four vehicles and claimed three lives in Rockledge. Four more individuals were seriously injured in the wreck that occurred on Jan. 4 at about 1:30 a.m. on Interstate 95 close to the exit ramp for South Fiske Boulevard.
A chain reaction happened when the 39-year-old male driver of a northbound Infiniti left the highway and struck a guardrail. Next, the out of control car hit a northbound Hyundai Elantra head-on, and that car was rear-ended by a third northbound vehicle. A fourth vehicle became involved after it was hit by debris from the other cars.
The deceased included the 64-year-old female driver of the Hyundai and two of her passengers ages 56 and 66. A female passenger from that car and a passenger from the Infiniti were transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center with critical injuries. The driver of the Infiniti and another passenger from his vehicle suffered serious injuries, and both were transported to Wuesthoff Hospital. Minor injuries were experienced by the drivers of the third and fourth vehicles.
Troopers reported that charges may be pending in the case. They had not yet found a reason for the Infiniti to veer from the road.
The families of the deceased in this case may consider seeking the advice of a personal injury attorney. Once the investigation is complete, a wrongful death lawsuit could be in order. An attorney can help obtain accident investigation reports and assist with determining a cause of action. Family members could seek compensation for their loss of a loved one in this case or any personal injury case.
