Police search for driver involved in fatal hit and run

As of March 27, Florida police continued to search for the individual who fled from the scene of a fatal accident involving an automobile and a bicyclist. Early Thursday, March 26, an individual driving near the corner of Granada Boulevard and Bird Road collided with a biker. The driver of the vehicle did not stop or contact the proper authorities but fled the scene.

An officer traveling on Bird Road around 3:15 a.m. discovered the body of the hit-and-run victim. The victim was an older male. His bicycle was later found four blocks away where it likely came to rest after breaking free from the vehicle that struck him.

During the investigation late March 26 and early the next day, police watched a Miami-Dade residence believed to contain the vehicle involved in the accident. They report no one entered the home during that time. Early March 27, a warrant was executed on the property. Police located a Nissan Altima that had been affected by extensive damages and had a smashed windshield. The vehicle was partially concealed behind the home. As of March 27, police described this incident as an active fatal hit-and-run investigation.

In a situation in which an individual is killed in an automobile accident, the victim's loved ones may be able to work with a lawyer in order to seek compensation for the wrongful death. Once the responsible party has been identified, a lawyer experienced in personal injury and wrongful death may be able to file a claim in the effort to receive restitution for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering on behalf of the victim's loved ones.
